CHeRiTH VaLLeY gardens History

CHeRiTH VaLLeY gardens is a family operated business located in Fort Worth, Texas.  We are committed to creating the finest garden fresh products. As often as possible, we purchase our produce locally.  We are a “hot ‘n spicy” line of pickled vegetables, salsas, hors d’oeuvre jellies, spirited fruits, grille and dipping sauces, and assorted condiments.  We hand-pack our products and there are no artificial preservatives, colorings or flavorings.

In 1986, Alan Werner was a principal in an independent oil company, which funded, drilled and operated gas and oil wells in West Texas.  The stock market plunge of October 1987 precipitated the eventual collapse of the company.

Out of this trauma and our searching, we discovered a desire to “return to the land.”  At that time we began gardening in order to produce vegetables to feed our family.  Our entire family prepared the soil, planted, watered, weeded, harvested and canned our garden’s bounty for the year’s consumption.  After using our canned items as gifts, we were strongly encouraged to market our specialty products.  All of the recipes for our product line have been developed from old as well as new family recipes.  On May 8, 1993, we officially produced the first CHeRiTH VaLLeY gardens product.

We are found in over 2,500 specialty stores in the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan and several other countries.  We have enjoyed such customers as:  Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Pier One Imports, Williams-Sonoma, Dean & DeLuca, Biltmore Estate, Central Market, Nordstom, Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas and The Greenbrier.

CHeRiTH VaLLeY gardens’ story has been written in Texas Monthly and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. We have also been featured in Food & Wine Magazine, Prevention Magazine, Men’s Health, Gourmet Magazine, Gourmet News and many other national publications.   We were on Good Morning Texas in 1999 and were honored to be on Food Finds on the nationally televised Food Network.  It was quite a production and a very exciting event!  We are also pleased to be involved in the “Taste of Texas” program which is sponsored by the Texas Dept. of Agriculture.  In 2007 Plains Capital Bank awarded CVG “Most Innovative Family Business of the Year”. We have won numerous awards in the gourmet food industry.  In 1995 we were accepted into the NASFT (National Association for the Specialty Food Trade).  We have been honored to have won many awards at the NASFT New York Fancy Food Show.  These include “Most Outstanding Food Gift Pack” in 1995, “Most Outstanding Snack Food, Hors d’oeuvre or Salsa”  for our Mango~Lime Salsa in 1998, “Outstanding New Product for 2002” for our Tamarind~Bourbon Grille & Dipping Sauce as well as our Apricot~Coconut Grille & Dipping Sauce for “Outstanding Cooking Enhancer” in 2002.  Fancy Food Magazine awarded us Best Gift Packaging Presentation in January 1996.  We have won Best of Show as well as over ten gourmet awards at the Atlanta Gourmet Show and the California Gift Show from 1996 to 2009.  Gourmet Retailer presented us an award for Best Product Line at the 1998 NASFT Winter Fancy Food Show.  In 2000 we won “Most Innovative Product” at the Western Foodservice Show for our Green Olive Salsa.  We have also won five consecutive years as “Best of Aisle” in the NASFT Winter and Summer Fancy Food Shows.  Our most recent awards were given at the 2008 and 2009 Atlanta Gourmet Show for our Mango Bread Spread for “Best of Show” and our Grilled Garlic and Onion Spread for “Best Cooking Enhancer”.  We have been honored to have received so many prestigious awards.

We would like to thank you in advance for allowing us to offer you the finest in gourmet foods.
